Ceruledge ex Deck | Pokémon Pocket Promo Series

Hola Everyone! It’s your boy Anketsu here, and welcome to a brand-new Pokémon TCG Pocket Deck guide.

What if winning wasn’t about hitting harder, but about making sure your opponent can’t attack at all?
That’s exactly what makes Ceruledge ex such an interesting promo card. Instead of relying on massive damage numbers, this Psychic-type attacker focuses on disrupting your opponent’s Energy attachments and slowing down their game plan turn after turn.

Ceruledge ex is a promotional card available exclusively through the Ceruledge ex Solo Battle Event running from June 13 to June 30, making it one of the most unique cards currently available in Pokémon TCG Pocket.

While many players will dismiss it because of its relatively low damage output, I think there’s a lot of room for experimentation thanks to its Energy disruption effect and the different ways you can build around it.

In this guide, we’ll take a look at Ceruledge ex itself, the best support Pokémon, the Trainer cards that fit the strategy, and several different deck variants ranging from aggressive builds to more control-oriented approaches.

Now grab a seat, relax, and enjoy the guide!

Ceruledge ex is an aggressive card, but not in the traditional sense. You’re not trying to overwhelm opponents with huge damage numbers. Instead, the deck revolves around repeatedly disrupting Energy attachments and creating awkward situations where your opponent simply can’t execute their strategy.

This becomes especially effective against decks such as Mega Blaziken ex and Mega Sceptile ex, which already discard their own Energy to attack. If you manage to remove an additional Energy with Shimmering Slash, they can suddenly find themselves with no Energy attached and unable to attack.

The card is also surprisingly effective against Mega Lucario ex. By removing Energy at the right moment, you can keep it stuck at two Energy and prevent it from reaching its maximum damage output, reducing its damage ceiling from 140 to 90.

Even Miraidon ex can struggle when its Lightning Energy attachments are disrupted, lowering its overall damage potential.

Of course, there is a downside. Shimmering Slash discards a random Energy from all Pokémon in play, which means your own Energy can be discarded as well.

To minimize this risk, most Ceruledge ex builds prefer Pokémon that attack with a single Energy or Pokémon that are primarily included for their Abilities rather than their attacks.

This increases the chances that the discarded Energy belongs to your opponent instead of you.

Ceruledge ex faces some difficult matchups, with Darkness decks such as Hydreigon and Mega Absol ex acting as some of its strongest counters. It is also constantly threatened by Fighting archetypes like Koraidon ex, which leverage Korrina and Arena of Antiquity from the Pulsing Aura package to deal increased damage against ex Pokémon.

Support Pokémons 🎐

The Support Pokémon listed below are not mandatory inclusions for every build. They are simply different options that can be mixed, swapped, or adjusted depending on your preferred strategy, playstyle, and the cards you currently have available.

Meloetta, Jirachi & Giratina ex

meloetta the psychic pokemon
Meloetta

Meloetta
Set: Fantastical Parade
Type: Psychic

HP: 70

Ability – Strange Singing
At the beginning of your turn, if this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, put a random Psychic Pokémon from your deck into your hand.

Psyshot
50 Damage

Weakness: Darkness
Retreat Cost: 1

Jirachi
Set: Mega Rising
Type: Psychic
Basic Pokémon
HP: 50

Star Drop
This attack does 30 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Pokémon.

Weakness: Darkness
Retreat Cost: 1

Giratina ex
Set: Shining Revelry
Type: Psychic
Basic Pokémon
HP: 150

Ability – Broken-Space Bellow
Once during your turn, you may take a Psychic Energy from your Energy Zone and attach it to this Pokémon. If you use this Ability, your turn ends.

Chaotic Impact
130 Damage

This Pokémon also does 20 damage to itself.

Weakness: Darkness
Retreat Cost: 2

This is the most aggressive Ceruledge ex variant.

Meloetta and Jirachi help apply early-game pressure while also making the deck more consistent. Meloetta is usually the ideal starting Pokémon because Strange Singing immediately starts finding additional Psychic Pokémon and helps speed up your setup.

Jirachi provides valuable chip damage and can pick off low-HP Basic Pokémon sitting on the opponent’s Bench, making it useful for securing early knockouts.

Giratina ex serves two important roles. First, it acts as a secondary attacker capable of dealing significant damage. Second, it functions as a tank that helps protect Ceruledge ex until you’re ready to attack.

This is also the build that benefits the most from Peculiar Plaza, since the Stadium allows Giratina ex to retreat much more easily and lets you move Ceruledge ex into the Active Spot exactly when you need it.

Booster Packs:

Indeedee ex & Comfey

Indeedee the psychic pokemon
Indeedee ex

Indeedee ex
Set: Mega Rising
Type: Psychic
Basic Pokémon
HP: 130

Ability – Watch Over
Once during your turn, you may heal 20 damage from your Active Pokémon.

Psychic – 2 Psychic Energy
30+ Damage

This attack does 30 more damage for each Energy attached to your opponent’s Active Pokémon.

Weakness: Darkness
Retreat Cost: 1

Comfey
Set: Celestial Guardians: Solgaleo
Type: Psychic
Basic Pokémon
HP: 70

Ability – Flower Shield
Each of your Pokémon that has any Energy attached recovers from all Special Conditions and can’t be affected by any Special Conditions.

Spinning Attack – 1 Psychic, 1 Colorless
30 Damage

Weakness: Darkness
Retreat Cost: 1

This is the control-oriented version of the deck.

Instead of focusing on aggression, the goal here is to keep Ceruledge ex alive for as long as possible while repeatedly disrupting your opponent’s Energy attachments.

Indeedee ex continuously heals Ceruledge ex through Watch Over, while Comfey protects your board from Special Conditions such as Poison, Burn, and Sleep.

The ideal setup is straightforward: Ceruledge ex in the Active Spot, two Indeedee ex on the Bench providing healing every turn, and a Comfey protecting the board from status effects.

This version also makes excellent use of Giant Cape to increase Ceruledge ex’s HP pool. Combined with Indeedee ex’s healing and Lucky Ice Pop, Ceruledge ex becomes surprisingly difficult to remove from the field.

The reason Indeedee ex and Comfey fit despite requiring additional Energy investment is simple: they’re included primarily for their Abilities. Their attacks are secondary, so losing Energy to Shimmering Slash is usually not a major concern.

Booster Packs:

  • Indeedee exMega Rising
  • Comfey – Celestial Guardians: Solgaleo

Chingling & Oricorio

the baby pokemon chingling
Chingling

Chingling
Set: Mega Rising
Type: Psychic
Basic Pokémon
HP: 30

Jingly Noise
10 Damage

During your opponent’s next turn, they can’t play any Item cards from their hand.

Weakness: None
Retreat Cost: 0

Oricorio
Set: Celestial Guardians: Lunala
Type: Psychic
Basic Pokémon
HP: 70

Spiteful Dance – 1 Psychic Energy
20+ Damage

If any of your Pokémon were Knocked Out by damage from an attack during your opponent’s last turn, this attack does 60 more damage.

Weakness: Darkness
Retreat Cost: 1

This version focuses on speed and disruption from the very first turn.

The ideal opening is Chingling in the Active Spot with Oricorio already waiting on the Bench. Chingling immediately starts slowing the opponent down by preventing them from playing Item cards, buying valuable time for the rest of your setup.

If Chingling gets Knocked Out early, Oricorio is ready to come in and capitalize on it. As a revenge attacker, it becomes significantly stronger after one of your Pokémon is Knocked Out and can quickly punish opponents who take early prizes.

The strategy is simple but effective: apply small amounts of damage, disrupt your opponent’s resources, and continuously force awkward turns while Ceruledge ex controls the Energy battle.

Booster Packs:

  • ChinglingMega Rising
  • Oricorio – Celestial Guardians: Lunala

Ceruledge ex Strengths

  • Energy Disruption: Removes Energy and slows down opponents’ attacks and setup.
  • Strong Against Energy-Hungry Decks: Punishes decks that need multiple Energy to attack effectively.
  • Flexible Deckbuilding: Can be played in aggressive, tempo, or control-oriented variants.

Ceruledge ex Weaknesses

  • Low Damage Output: 80 damage often isn’t enough to score quick knockouts.
  • Random Effect: Shimmering Slash can discard your own Energy instead of theirs.
  • Requires Support: Needs partners and disruption tools to reach its full potential.

Trainer Cards

Un personaggio femminile in un abito rosso con maniche lunghe, capelli verdi e sguardo determinato, posizionato di fronte a uno sfondo futuristico luminoso.

Just like the Pokémon section, these Trainer cards are not all meant to be played together. They are simply useful options that can work inside different versions of the deck.

Supporter cards:

The Supporter lineup is made entirely of staples.

Professor’s Research and Copycat provide the draw power and consistency needed to find your Pokémon and key cards as quickly as possible.

Sabrina and Cyrus help control your opponent’s board position by bringing specific Pokémon into the Active Spot, allowing you to target vulnerable threats or disrupt their setup.

Booster Packs:

  • Sabrina – Genetic Apex: Charizard
  • Cyrus – SpaceTime Smackdown: Palkia
  • Copycat Mega Rising: Mega Gyarados EX
  • Professor’s Research – Shop Promo

Stadium cards:

For Stadiums, my primary recommendation is Peculiar Plaza.

Peculiar Plaza
Set: Fantastical Parade
Trainer – Stadium

The Retreat Cost of each Psychic Pokémon in play is 2 less.

This Stadium allows Ceruledge ex to retreat for free and makes switching between attackers much easier throughout the game.

If you prefer more generic options, you can also consider Mesagoza or Hiking Trail to help thin your deck and improve consistency.

Booster Packs:

Tool cards:

For Pokémon Tools, I personally consider Giant Cape and Rocky Helmet the best options for the deck.

Giant Cape increases the HP of your Pokémon and is especially strong in the control version alongside Indeedee ex.

Rocky Helmet adds passive damage and can discourage opponents from attacking into your Pokémon.

That said, there are alternative options. Poison Barb can pressure opponents with Poison, while Lucky Egg offers additional card draw if you prefer a more consistent approach.

Booster Packs:

  • Poison Barb – Celestial Guardians
  • Lucky EggPulsing Aura
  • Giant Cape – Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga
  • Rocky Helmet – Space-Time Smackdown: Palkia

Item cards:

For Items, the core package is very straightforward.

Poké Ball remains one of the strongest cards in the format and helps search for the Basic Pokémon required for your setup.

Lucky Ice Pop provides additional healing, which becomes especially valuable in the Indeedee ex control build.

Field Blower helps remove opposing Stadiums and Tools, allowing you to eliminate problematic cards such as Rocky Helmet or Poison Barb before they become an issue.

Booster Packs:

Key Cards

  • Ceruledge ex | The deck’s main attacker, focused on disrupting opponents by randomly discarding Energy and slowing their game plan.
  • Meloetta | Provides early-game consistency by searching Psychic Pokémon and helping you set up Ceruledge ex faster.
  • Indeedee ex | The core support card in control builds, continuously healing Ceruledge ex and making it much harder to Knock Out.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Ceruledge ex is one of the most interesting promo cards we’ve received in Pokémon TCG Pocket. It won’t impress players looking for massive damage numbers, but if you enjoy disrupting your opponent’s strategy and forcing inefficient turns, there’s a lot to like here.

What I like most is the flexibility. You can build Ceruledge ex as an aggressive deck with Meloetta, Jirachi, and Giratina ex, a fast disruption deck with Chingling and Oricorio, or a control-focused list with Indeedee ex and Comfey. Each version approaches the game differently while still taking advantage of Ceruledge ex’s unique Energy disruption effect.

What do you think about Ceruledge ex so far? Have you been playing the Ceruledge ex Solo Battle Event? Which version of the deck would you build first? Let me know in the comments below.

F.A.Q. 🚨

🔹 Is Ceruledge ex good in Pokémon TCG Pocket? Is it worth building?

Yes, Ceruledge ex is good in the right deck, but it’s a disruption card, not a damage dealer. Its value comes from Energy disruption rather than raw power. It excels against Energy-hungry strategies (Mega Blaziken ex, Mega Sceptile ex, Miraidon ex). Worth building if you enjoy control/disruption playstyles. Less effective against low-Energy aggro decks.

↑ Back

🔹 How does Ceruledge ex’s Shimmering Slash work?

Shimmering Slash costs 1 Psychic + 1 Colorless Energy, deals 80 damage, and discards a random Energy from among ALL Energy attached to Pokémon in play (your own AND opponent’s). To minimize self-discard, build around Pokémon that attack with 1 Energy or are included for Abilities (e.g., Indeedee ex, Comfey, Meloetta).

↑ Back

🔹 What is the best Ceruledge ex deck build?

Three strong variants exist:
Aggressive (Meloetta/Jirachi/Giratina ex) – early pressure + secondary attacker.
Control (Indeedee ex/Comfey) – healing + status immunity; keeps Ceruledge alive.
Disruption (Chingling/Oricorio) – blocks Item cards + revenge killer.
Best for ladder: Control version (most consistent).

↑ Back

🔹 Which Pokémon work best with Ceruledge ex?

Best partners: Meloetta (searches Psychic Pokémon), Jirachi (chip damage), Giratina ex (secondary attacker/tank), Indeedee ex (healing), Comfey (status immunity), Chingling (blocks Item cards), Oricorio (revenge killer). Core synergy: Pokémon that attack with 1 Energy or are included for Abilities reduce risk of self-discard.

↑ Back

🔹 What decks does Ceruledge ex counter?

Ceruledge ex excels against Energy-hungry decks: Mega Blaziken ex, Mega Sceptile ex (both discard own Energy), Mega Lucario ex (denies 140 damage threshold, keeps it at 90), Miraidon ex (reduces damage scaling), and Koraidon ex. Struggles against: low-Energy aggro decks and Fighting types (weakness).

↑ Back

🔹 How to get Ceruledge ex? Is it a promo card?

Yes, Ceruledge ex is a promotional card. Available exclusively through the Ceruledge ex Solo Battle Event running from June 13 to June 30. Evolves from Charcadet (Paldean Wonders). Best Trainer cards: Peculiar Plaza (free retreat), Giant Cape (+HP), Rocky Helmet (passive damage), Field Blower (remove opponent’s Tools).
