Hola Everyone! A new Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion has just been revealed, but this one is a little different from what we’re used to.

Deluxe Pack MEGA, also known as B4b, arrives on September 30, 2026, and instead of introducing another completely new batch of cards, it brings together cards from the previous B Series with new artwork and special versions.

So, what exactly is the point of this set?

Is it a good way for new players to catch up? A dream come true for collectors? Or simply another excuse to spend your Poké Gold?

Let’s take a look at what Deluxe Pack MEGA actually offers and, most importantly, who should be interested in opening it.

What Is Deluxe Pack MEGA?

Deluxe Pack MEGA is a special Pokémon TCG Pocket set focused on cards from the B Series.

Unlike a regular expansion, the idea here isn’t to introduce an entirely new collection of cards and mechanics. Instead, the set brings together cards that have already appeared in previous B Series expansions, including some of the most recognizable Pokémon and Trainer cards from that era.

The big difference is that many of these cards return with new artwork or special versions, giving players another reason to hunt for them.

And there’s another important detail:

Every Deluxe Pack MEGA pack contains four cards, with at least one Pokémon ex guaranteed.

That’s fewer cards than the usual five-card pack, but the guaranteed ex makes these packs particularly interesting if you’re still missing cards from the B Series.

The set will be available from September 30 through October 29, 2026, and Pokémon has also stated that Deluxe Pack MEGA may return in the future.

So while it has a limited availability period, you shouldn’t necessarily feel that you have to complete it immediately.

Who Is Deluxe Pack MEGA For?

I think this set is mainly aimed at two very different groups of players: newer players and collectors.

And that’s important because your reason for opening these packs changes quite a lot depending on which group you belong to.

New and Free-to-Play Players

If you’ve started playing Pokémon TCG Pocket recently, Deluxe Pack MEGA could be a pretty useful starting point.

The B Series contains cards spread across several previous expansions. Normally, if you wanted to build a collection from scratch, you’d have to go back and open packs from those individual sets and hope to find the cards you’re missing.

Deluxe Pack MEGA gives you another way to approach that problem.

The pool is focused on previously released cards, and the guaranteed Pokémon ex in every pack means that you’re not simply opening packs and hoping to eventually hit something useful.

For a newer player who doesn’t already own a large collection, that’s a pretty appealing proposition.

It doesn’t mean you should ignore every other expansion, of course. But if you’re missing a lot of cards from the B Series, this kind of concentrated card pool can make catching up considerably more straightforward.

And this is where I think Deluxe Pack MEGA makes the most sense as a concept.

It’s not necessarily trying to replace normal expansions. It’s giving newer players a way to catch up with the game’s card pool without having to chase every previous release individually.

Collectors

Then we have the other obvious audience: collectors.

And this is where Deluxe Pack MEGA gets much more dangerous for your Poké Gold.

The set contains a huge selection of returning cards, but the real attraction is all the new artwork and special versions.

If you’re the kind of player who wants to collect every illustration, every rarity, and every alternate version, Deluxe Pack MEGA gives you plenty of things to chase.

And let’s be honest: that’s also where this kind of set can become particularly expensive.

If we’re being slightly controversial, Deluxe Pack MEGA is also a very convenient way of squeezing the so-called “whales”—players and content creators who are willing to spend hundreds of euros chasing every rare illustration without thinking twice about it.

From the game’s point of view, a giant collection of new artwork attached to cards that players already know is a pretty effective combination.

You don’t need to create dozens of completely new cards.

You just need to give collectors enough new versions of cards they already love to make them want to open another pack.

And if you’re a streamer or content creator who makes money from opening packs, there’s an additional incentive: there’s content in the chase itself.

That doesn’t necessarily make Deluxe Pack MEGA a bad set. But it is worth recognizing that the collector appeal is clearly one of its biggest selling points.

What About Competitive Players?

This is where things get a little less exciting.

From a competitive perspective, Deluxe Pack MEGA doesn’t fundamentally change the game.

The cards are mostly cards that already exist, so you’re not getting an entirely new collection of Pokémon and Trainer cards that suddenly creates a completely different metagame.

That doesn’t mean competitive players have nothing to look for, though.

There are still a few staple cards that can find their way into a wide variety of decks, and those are naturally going to be some of the most interesting cards to pull.

And this brings us to one card in particular.

Copycat: The Chase Card?

One of the standout Trainer cards in Deluxe Pack MEGA is Copycat.

Copycat is already played across a large number of decks, making it an obvious target for competitive players who want the special version.

This is actually quite similar to what happened with Professor’s Research in last year’s Deluxe Pack.

But there’s an important difference.

Professor’s Research was particularly attractive because the Deluxe Pack version gave players a special artwork that they couldn’t already get in the same way from another version.

Copycat is a little different.

The card already has a Full Art version, and honestly, it’s a pretty great one.

So now we have to ask the question:

Is the new Copycat artwork actually worth chasing if you already own the Full Art?

Personally, I’m not completely convinced.

The new artwork is certainly nice, but I’m not sure it adds enough to make me desperately want to pull another version of a card I already have.

And that’s where I’d like to hear from you:

Which Copycat artwork do you prefer? The existing Full Art or the new Deluxe Pack MEGA version?

For me, this is a much more interesting discussion than simply asking whether the card is “good.” We already know Copycat is useful.

The real question is whether this particular version is worth chasing.

So, Is Deluxe Pack MEGA Worth Opening?

I don’t think there’s one answer for everyone.

If you’re a new player or a free-to-play player who is missing a lot of cards from the B Series, Deluxe Pack MEGA has a very clear purpose. The concentrated card pool and guaranteed Pokémon ex can make it a useful way to build up your collection.

If you’re a collector, things are even more obvious. The new artwork and special versions give you plenty of reasons to open packs, especially if your goal is to collect every illustration rather than simply build playable decks.

If you’re a competitive player, however, I’d approach the set differently.

You aren’t getting an entirely new competitive environment from Deluxe Pack MEGA. Most of the cards are already known, and the main reason to open packs is going after specific staples or special versions of cards you already use.

And then there’s the big question:

How much do you actually want those alternate artworks?

Because that’s ultimately what Deluxe Pack MEGA is selling.

The gameplay doesn’t change dramatically.

Your collection does.

And if you’re already sitting on most of the B Series, the question isn’t really whether the set contains useful cards. It does.

The question is whether you want to spend your resources chasing another version of cards you already own—especially with the next major chapter of Pokémon TCG Pocket approaching.

For me, that’s what makes Deluxe Pack MEGA interesting.

It’s not really a set about what’s new to play.

It’s a set about what’s new to collect.
